On June 26, 2015, the United States Supreme Court issued a groundbreaking legal opinion in which marriage between two persons of the same sex was deemed legal and valid. Marriage was declared a fundamental right of U.S. citizens, straight or gay. With the new era that has dawned, I look forward to continuing a special relationship with LGBT couples.
Because of the ruling, LGBT couples can marry, divorce and enjoy the same protections under state law as heterosexual partners.
Same-sex couples are now bound by the same duties and responsibilities that are part of the marriage contract.
